Even if you have made the decision to avoid the shops this boxing day it’s all too easy to get caught up in the boxing day sale madness and spend far too much money on stuff you don’t really need anyway. But with some planning (and a healthy dose of self-control) you can hit the shops with less stress and bag a bargain on the things you need. Here are our tips for tackling the boxing day madness like a pro!
Make a list the night before
You can tell yourself that you will be fine without a list and you will not go over your budget but let’s be honest once you get into the shops you will always end up buying something extra that you don’t need. You will be surprised at how good you are at convincing yourself you ‘need’ something that you hadn’t even thought of before. Plan in advance, is how you will avoid making extra purchases. Making a list helps you focus on the things you need and how much you are spending along the way.
If you are worn out from all the feasting and celebrating but don’t want to miss out on the discounts why not shop from the comfort of your own home and buy online! You may not be able to stop yourself from buying things you don’t need however you can save yourself having to stress about finding parking, waiting in long queues, and dealing with the overcrowded shopping centre.
Plan for the year ahead
At Protection Solutions we are all about planning ahead! That is why we think you should take full advantage of the discounts and start getting gifts sorted for the upcoming year, that way you can save yourself some money and be extremely organised. You can buy things for upcoming birthdays, Valentines day, school supplies you name it!
Don’t fall into the sales traps!
It can be easy to overspend when you are convincing yourself that everything you buy is a bargain but try and think logically. If there is an item that you have been wanting for a while and it is on sale, now is the time to get it. However, if you would not buy the item at full price, there is a good chance that you do not really want it and you’re just being seduced by the sale sticker. Remember, even a huge discount doesn’t necessarily mean something is worth the price. Often the large sale signs can throw us off, you don’t want to purchase something just because the marketing is done well. Know when to resist the urge and walk away!
Do your research
If you want to be extremely ahead of the game this year do some research, find out where the best deals and discounts are and make a plan of attack. Go to the stores with the best discounts first so you can get in quick, that way you make the best savings and get all the items you were wanting!
