At Protection Solutions we are advocates for health and wellbeing, as November draws to a close we want to take this opportunity to look back at this month’s impact on Men’s Health .
Men’s health is in crisis, men are dying on average 6 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. Movember is a men’s health charity that has started projects all over the world, engaging men where they are to understand what works best and accelerate change.
Unchecked, prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15-39 years of age.
We were asked by two of our long-standing clients to support their Mos for Movember…One has asked that we pay to have his removed and the other has a fine spread of facial attraction. We challenge you to match our donation and do your bit for men’s health.

White Ribbon Day:
This year, White Ribbon is talking about the #outdated – stereotypes that boys and men are handed down from their role models. White Ribbon Day took place on 25th November , it is the international day when people wear a white ribbon to show that they do not condone violence towards women. Healthy masculinity is about being kind, empathetic and finding peaceful resolutions to problems. It is about boys and men being confident in who they are without feeling pressure to be a certain type of boy/man.

How Insurance can help:
It can be hard to ask for help but there are many options out there.
Understanding the benefits of having insurance and what is provided by your medical insurance if you already have it is critical if you are exploring the possible tests and treatments of cancer. Keep in mind that the type of insurance you have may impact the amount of costs you pay during treatment and through recovery. While health insurance covers many of the costs of cancer care, there are other types of insurance that may help pay for other associated expenses, if you wish to know what else is available contact one of our advisers today.
nib for example provides support for members with cancer through the Hospital Surgical benefit, Hospital Medical benefit, Non-PHARMAC benefit and the Follow-up Investigation for Cancer benefit available with Ultimate Health Max, Ultimate Health and Easy Health base cover. Plus with Ultimate Health Max members have access to cancer treatment counselling and support.
Cancer cover offered by a variety of providers who pays you a lump sum of money if you’re diagnosed with cancer to help you recover physically and financially.
Men’s health is an important topic, we are happy to see so many campaigns this November raising awareness and educating men about the importance of their health, lifestyle and social behaviours.
